Originally by: Johnny Juice People can blow up your ship, and then just wait for you to come along again so they can do it all over, AND THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT.
Then why do you come along again? Hint: It's near impossible to catch a pod or shuttle unless you're in zero security space.
Originally by: Johnny Juice If you are mining, they'll steal your ore. If you are missioning, they'll either steal your loot and salvage, or they'll just kill you and then steal your stuff. If you are hauling valuables, they'll kill you and rob you. If you are just in space, they'll kill you for no reason whatsoever other than to **** you off.
Mining is a group activity. Get someone to haul for you (and some other miners to make it worthwile for someone to haul). Best done with a mining corp.
Stealing your loot in a mission requires scanning you down first. In order to blow your ship and pod up without losing their own ships they need to declare war on you, which is not even possible as long as you stay in a starter corp.
Originally by: Johnny Juice And if you try to do something about it, they'll call their corp mates, and you'll get ganked all over again.
That's one of the lessons Eve is going to teach you in case life hasn't done so far: There's always someone better and stronger than you. That is btw. not much related to your rookie characters skillpoints.
Originally by: Johnny Juice Imagine having mined for an hour, just for some brainless idiot to come along and snatch ALL you've worked for the last hour.
Now lets approach this from a different angle: Wouldn't he be an idiot not taking your stuff if you let him easily? You - as we all - wouldn't like EvE if it was fair. You just don't know it yet.
Originally by: Johnny Juice Imagine just jumping into a system, and the first thing that happens is a gang of gankers locking you down so you can't escape and then blowing up your ship and your pod. Repeatedly, because they're just waiting for you to come back out of the station. And for what? JUST for ruining your enjoyment.
You've obviously been to a system where you don't belong as long as you have little clue about New Eden. Fortunately you get warned when attempting to enter such areas. Somehow didn't work in your case. Ignorance anyone?
Why don't you just ruin their enjoyment? Move along in a shuttle or pod, waving and thanking for the attempt to make your game experience richer. Try being ironic. Either they're grown up and get the message or you're ruining their day (somewhat). Stay kind - whatever happens. If they're actually morons you ruin their day, but more likely you may even make friends. Shooting someone's ship isn't (or at least shouldn't be) personal. If you start insulting them it gets personal easily. That is what leads to someone pursuing you. Stay in char, don't get personal. Curse the ebil piwates in local or whatever. But the moronic player behind the pilot? In char I said!
Originally by: Johnny Juice And there's NO help from the devs, because they don't just look the other way, they actively support it.
Helping is a case for Game Masters, not Developers. If you behave childish they actually will make fun of you. Act mature.
Originally by: Johnny Juice I don't know a single EvE player who hasn't got at least a few stories of ppl ganking them.
One of the most fun things in EvE is when people try to gank you and fail IMO. Also you seriously must be doing something wrong if you have it happen every single day.
Originally by: Johnny Juice Take my advice. DON'T pay for this game.
Whats your point? People reading it either are on a trial account and have plenty free playtime to experience EvE themselves or they already did pay (many of them for years btw.).
Having no valid points of OP left the conclusion would be it must be a troll. And I fell for it. Arrrrrgs.
(Actually I'm afraid most of the ones that got to be trolls actually aren't - what a cruel world)
